New Albany Links Dolphins

Andrew brings over seven years of competitive coaching experience and a lifelong background in high-level swimming to the New Albany Links. He has been a coach with the New Albany Aquatics Club for five (+) years and has served as the Lead Coach of the Bombora group for the past three years, developing swimmers at critical stages of their competitive careers.

Andrew previously coached the New Albany Links Swim Team for three summers (2021–2023), helping lead the team to SESL Championship in 2022. Prior to that, he served as an assistant coach at Lakes Golf & Country Club for two summers, building a strong foundation in summer league coaching and athlete development.

As a swimmer, Andrew competed at the highest levels of age-group and collegiate swimming. Through his age-group career, Andrew swam at New Albany Aquatics Club from the time he was six years old until he graduated high school. Here, he was a finalist at the USA Swimming Winter Junior Championships and a top-10 finisher at the NCSA Spring National Championships in multiple events.

At the high school level, Andrew swam for Westerville North High School where he placed in the top five at the OHSAA State Championships in multiple events, won multiple district titles, and was an All-American in multiple events across multiple years.

Andrew continued his swimming career at NCAA Division I Oakland University from 2019–2023. At Oakland, Andrew was a four-year team captain and four-time conference champion. He consistently placed in the top five at conference championships across multiple seasons, demonstrating both elite performance and leadership.

Outside the pool, Andrew is a Juris Doctor candidate at Capital University Law School, with an expected graduation in May 2027. He brings the same discipline, strategic thinking, and commitment to excellence from his academic and athletic pursuits into his approach to coaching.

Andrew is passionate about helping swimmers grow not only as athletes, but as confident, disciplined, and resilient young individuals.

Hi, I’m Alaina Bernsdorf!

I’ve been in the water since I was 4 years old and swam competitively at NAAC before continuing my career at Ashland University. Swimming has always been such a big part of my life, and now I’m lucky enough to give back by coaching at NAAC (and I loved my two years as assistant coach for the Links!).

When I’m not on deck, I’m a third grade teacher in Westerville. I absolutely love working with kids and making everything fun, positive, and exciting! Outside of school and the pool, you’ll find me doing yoga, soaking up sunshine, hanging out with my three yellow labs and, my baby nephew!

I can’t wait for a fun, energetic summer of swimming!
